Celebrating Chinese New Year 2020 with the Power of Hope!
With Chinese New Year just approaching I was really taken with the “Power of Hope” stamp set. I felt Cherry Cobbler was a nice bold red that resonates with the culture and spreads the meaning of luck, joy and happiness.

Here’s how I made it:
I placed a 10x14.35cm piece of Whisper White cardstock on the Stamparatus.
Stamp image of lady and lantern with Memento Ink.
With the lantern, align at the top left hand corner one square in and down. Then using the hinge step process, stamp the lantern until you reach the end of the card.
Next I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark. I chose “today is a day for new beginnings”.
Don’t forget to give the card a wipe with the embossing buddy first. It really helps avoid those messy grains of embossing powder going where you don’t want them.
Sprinkle over the Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool.
Now to colour... Using the Stampin’ Blends I started with the Light Cherry Cobbler and coloured in the ladies Hanfu (traditional dress) and then the lanterns. I then used the Dark Cherry Cobbler to highlight the dress (excluding the collar) and lanterns. I also used this to colour in the tassels of the lanterns.
Using the Light Crumb Cake I coloured the parasol and highlighted with the Dark Crumb Cake as well as colour in her hair. Lastly I used the Dark Petal Pink to colour her face.
With the Wink of Stella, I went over the dress (including her collar) and lanterns to make them sparkle.
I then punched out the sentiment with the Label me Fancy Punch and used the Paper Trimmer to cut the lanterns out in one strip. Then I fussy cut out the lady with Paper Snips.
Taking a new 10x14.35cm piece of Whisper White cardstock and with a sponge dauber applied the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Pad ink to it in a circular motion.
I then used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the lantern strip to the left hand side of the now inked up card, leaving about 3/4cm from the edge. I then adhered the lady to the card, just off centre.
Using 2 Stampin’ dimensional on the back of the punches sentiment I adhered this slightly overlapping with the ladies feet.
Finally using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of this card I layered it to the 21x14.85cm Basic Black Cardstock. This card was scored at 10.5cm and burnished along the fold with a bone folder.
